Panayiotis Doukanaris was born (b.1991) in Nicosia, Cyprus and he is currently living and working in Limassol, Cyprus. He completed his Bachelor Degree in Fine and Applied Arts from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2015. He received a full scholarship from the Mike Holland Trust, and enrolled for an MA in Fine Arts at the Birmingham City University, where he graduated with first class honours in 2016. While in Birmingham and under the mentorship of philosopher-poet Professor Johnny Golding, Doukanaris developed his interest towards the materiality of the canvas. Since 2017, Doukanaris worked in various public and private educational institutions of all levels. He currently works as a professor of art, and a visiting lecturer (Scientific Personnel) in secondary and tertiary education respectively. He divides his time being an artist, researcher, and educator.

 

Doukanaris has participated in numerous group exhibitions across Europe and Internationally. He most recently participated in the group exhibition @Islandic Parallels: Transformed Landscapes From One Island to Another, held at the Contemporary Art Platform in Kuwait; He was included in the ''Contextile 2022'' - Contemporary Textile Art Biennial, in Guimaraes, Portugal; ''Belonging'' - European Investment Bank collection exhibition, The Hunt Museum, Limerick, Ireland; ''In Ictum Arianna'' - Multi - space of Culture and Creativity, Larnaca, Cyprus; ''UKYA'' -  Bjcem Biennale des Jeunes Createurs de l'Europe et de la Mediterranee, Nottingham, UK; Institute Francais de Thes, Thessaloniki, Greece; Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki, Greece; Teloglion Foundation of Art, Thessaloniki, Greece; Theocharakis Foundation, Athens, Greece; Art Seen Contemporary Gallery, Nicosia, Cyprus.

Doukanaris' work is in the collections of European Investment Bank Institute Art Collection; Cyprus National Collection of Contemporary Art; Luciano Benetton Collection.
